Twenty-five days. That is how long Congress has to pass the BUILD America 250 Act before the current highway law expires on September 30.

The bill would give FMCSA a power it has never had: the authority to block a fraudulent carrier registration before it happens. Right now, FMCSA can only act after the carrier is already registered. The Huffman Monk case from last week exists precisely because of that gap.

Meanwhile in Texas: one complaint in March. By August, investigators had traced 176 stolen grain loads — 9.12 million pounds, $800,000 — across five counties. The tool that cracked it was not a tracking platform. It was scale tickets and storage records.
